World Heritage Site Tour - Garrison

THE MAIN GUARD with CLOCK TOWER

This is a guided walk with narration through the
Garrison Historic Area, the former facilities of the British Armed Forces Caribbean headquarters
until 1905.

THE DRILL HALL

Our tour highlights the George Washington House and Museum,
the Barbados Defense Force facility,
the Barbados Museum,
the Military burial ground,
the Main Guard and other highlights.

THE BARBADOS MUSEUM (The Old Military Prison)

The walk starts with a tour of the Barbados Museum, site of the former British Military Prison.

The only time George Washington traveled outside of USA was in 1751 to Barbados. We show you where he and Lawrence, his half-brother stayed.

George Washington House

This Main House was built around 1715, and has changed ownership at least seven times from then up to 2004.

Young George Washington, set off on horseback from this residence, to regularly observe the local agricultural practices, on the nearby plantations, because of his keen interest in agriculture.

OLD BARRACKS

We share on how soldiers lived, as well as the medical treatments rendered for that period.

Barbados was the only British colony that was never invaded by other colonizers…
